Why Lone Star Inc.?
Why I went to Lone Star Inc.
Car shopping is always an interesting experience. Basically I had my mind set to get a Mercedes M-Class and in 1999 there were only 1 dealer beside Lone Star Inc. in Calgary I knew of: Hyatt Auto Gallery. I know there are a bunch of 'Hyatt' outlets in Calgary, some of them operated by a numbered company. One of them was reported in a Calgary Newspaper for fixing odometers on used vehicles.
The Alberta Motor Vehicle Industry Council  maintains a special section for 'INVESTIGATIONS and COMPLAINTS' with a subtitle 'CONSUMER ALERTS'. Hyatt Auto Gallery claims, that they were never subject to any FTA charges, while the Crown Prosecutor did not proceed with criminal charges against Hyatt Auto Sales and Leasing Inc.. Fact remains, that the name 'Hyatt' was listed under CONSUMER ALERTS and if the Hyatt group of companies wants to avoid misrepresentation, they should choose more distinct names for their companies. I understand by Alberta Law - you cannot have companies with such similar names, unless they are somehow related to each other.
Obviously Hyatt had their fair share of problems with the junk Mercedes is putting out lately as well as it can be read at http://www.mercedesproblems.com/index.htm (you will have to search under ML320!) or you can look at the forum entry here at the captured page (47K): http://www.troublebenz.com/responses/mercedes-trouble-hyatt.htm
I went to Lone Star Inc. (Calgary). Kurt Wechselberger was my sales "consultant" - and I have to say: He was very nice, helpful and as far as I could say honest. At one point I was mentioning the paint structure and asked, if the car was re-painted, but I was assured, it was the original paint. Pretty soon we agreed to a lease for a demo-unit with 5,600km. The front valance was damaged and there was a dent around the wheel - he arranged that the front bumper was exchanged and flares were installed to cover the dent - although it had to be done at a later date, since the parts were not in stock.
So far my experience with Lone Star Inc. was great and I had absolutely no complaints...
