A Few Little Things

  Steering Pump
Have you ever driven an older Chevy-truck? Their steering mechanism make quite often this squeaking noise - related to the belt or to the belt or leaking fluid.

The same noise and some difficulties steering occurred on several occasions - however, I had and have problems pinpointing it under what circumstances this happens besides that it is only at low speed and low RPMs - but it is not consistent.

I noticed it mainly while parking into small parking spots, where I don't want to accelerate or rev the engine up.
This issue was never brought to Lone Star's attention - but it is one more flaw in the overall reliability of this vehicle.

Some people at Lone Star Inc. (Calgary) must have read this web site. With the last repair - they looked at this issue and found out that the noise came from a worn-out alternator bearing. They replaced the alternator under warranty @ 43,000km.
