Rear Tire |
| |
1250km after I picked up the car..
the right rear tire blew on July 21st. 2001. No, I don't blame
Mercedes for it! I called road-side assistance and City Wide Towing
came along and installed the spare. This guy didn't do it before on
a Mercedes, so it took a while, but he was friendly, helpful, did
his job and I was back on the road again with this Mickey-Mouse
wheel (better this than none!! - it's not a complaint!!) |
| |
I tried to get it fixed or
exchanged at a few tire places, but none of them carried the brand "GENERAL" and
none of them sold the size I needed. So back to Lone Star Inc.
(Calgary) on Monday morning. |

| |
Look at the date IN/OUT! It took
Lone Star Inc. (Calgary) anywhere between 2 1/2 and 4 days to get a
tire. Look at their web site and their track-record: |
 |
| |
They actually have awards for the
parts department.. How long does it take for other dealers to get a
tire?.. When I needed new wheels for my old TD.. the tire shop had
them the next day, and I believe there are far fewer 123-models
around than MLs. |
| |
But I have something good to say
as well: The spare tire, which should not be driven faster than
80km/h.. this thing is good for 120 to 130.. |

As I learned at
the meeting on July 19th, 2002, Mercedes-Benz as well as Lone Star
Inc. (Calgary) started to stock the tires for the ML-class models.
It just has to happen to me, before Mercedes-Benz is taken action -
and I was not even complaining at that time - however, I am glad,
that it did not happen on a trip to Toronto. |
