Emission Valve |
| |
It was a real pleasure to enjoy
the new vehicle for about 180km (yes less than 200km!!). My
insurance guy wanted a ride in it, and I drove around the block when
the "CHECK ENGINE" light came on - a red light - so it must be
serious! |
| |
Of course, this
happens after business hours - but fortunately I was just a few
hundred yards away from my home. So I drove it back - kind of
depressed. |
| |
The next morning I called the
service department. Dione calmed me down a bit, saying it could be
the fuel tank lid... but it wasn't - I checked that before, since I
remembered, it was pointed out to me, that a not properly closed
fuel tank could cause this - so I was asked to bring the car in. |
| |
The problem was caused by a valve,
somehow related to the emission control system. Lone Star Inc.
(Calgary) installed a new - modified - valve, and soon I was on the
road again. |

If Mercedes-Benz knows, that these
valves fail because of their construction and the location where
they are installed, why don't they replace them before you have to
bring the car back? This was obviously a known issue and a bad omen
for things to come. |
